Man, today was busy, but quite nice actually. I got a couple of books about blogging and it got me fired up. I am excited to see what God has in store for me in 2009. I actually got in the zone and was working on some business ideas, but I took a break to do my daily read. It was in Micah that I was reminded of how I need to run my business (and life!):
No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 (NLT)
I am working on multiple projects, some where I am going to find myself in debate with others. This verse is going to help me when I get passionate about my viewpoint to remember that it is Him that I must answer, not those on the other side. It was awesome to see when I was getting worked up about what I do. Thanks God for showing me that tonight.

Only a day away from catching up! I am almost there…
Previously in the Daily Read, it was another prophet bringing up the destruction of Israel and Judah and their eventual resurrection. I find it interesting the amount of prophets that God had sharing his will. Like I have said before, He needed to prove his case and doing it with one or two prophets would not work. And I am also fascinated with the similarities in their stories. They are all sent with the same message and it does not change much. The geek in me is so intrigued with this.
But, the highlight of this book was an explicit promise of Jesus coming. I believe this is the best writing about it that I have read. We are close to Matthew and it is going to be a blast. Read on…

As I have previously posted, I know that the dates are not matching up, but I am catching up! Previously in the Daily Read, we get to the story of Jonah and his journey in the belly of the “great fish”. Let me preface this by saying that as a child of the 80′s in Southern California, I became a fan of new wave music and one of the songs that sticks with me is “Belly of the Whale” by Burning Sensations. Ironic, isn’t it? Anyway, we all know this story and it was interesting to get the back story.
I never realized, but Jonah tried to take matters into his own hands when God told him to go preach to the people of Nineveh, knowing that they would repent and the Lord would have mercy. He wanted them to fry! So he headed to Tarshish, but before he could get there, God threw a raging storm and the sailors of the ship tossed Jonah overboard. After realizing his error, Jonah ends up in the belly of the whale! What I hadn’t realized was that he did what God said, and indeed, the people of Nineveh repented and the Lord did have mercy. This bummed out Jonah and he sulked. The lesson that he learns is that sometimes your unanswered prayers are for the greater good, like them or not. This was a fun, easy read. Time for more. Read on…
