Paul’s letters to the Corinthians talk about giving generously to the formation of the church and staying strong against the false prophets, but they focus on weakness. I find this topic especially important because we tend to dwell our weaknesses when the going gets tough, but as I mentioned in a conversation today, they are some of the greatest gifts that God will ever give us. As Paul points out:
Each time He said, “My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness.” So now I am proud to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me. Since I know it is all for Christ’s good, I am quite content with my weaknesses and with insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:8-10
It has been my experience that people get down on themselves when they are weak. I have had issues in my life and they have been hard, but in retrospect, when I turned to the Lord to find the solution, he has provided it and my life has always been better. I am not saying that it was easy. On the contrary, it was really, really hard to go through. But, by going through things like that, I have become stronger, smarter and more faithful. I thank God for that.
Finally, Paul closes with what I think is the mission statement for life. For mine, at least:
Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Rejoice. Change your ways. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you. 2 Corinthians 13:11
Now that is a close! Have a great day. Read on…
