DAILY READ: Ephesians

Posted on 26 June 2007 by Matt

I love this book that the Apostle Paul wrote from jail in Rome to the Ephesians. It is full of joy and praise to them about coming to know Jesus and ultimately to the Father. As I mentioned in my previous post, there is so much to discuss in this book, but after reading it again, I have pulled in three of my favorite verses:

Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, his able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)

Thanks to Him, I have been able to do many things in my life, but I realize it is because of Him. We live in a society of “everything now” and it can be frustrating when it feels as though we are not living his plan fast enough, but it is his plan and he is a patient God. It takes reading things like this to make me remember to be patient as well.

Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. Ephesians 4:28 (NLT)

You just never know who you are going to reach with that. I know I was having one of those today and my reading was just the answer. But, you never know who is hurting and possibly hiding it, and by doing this, you will be doing the work of Christ to help them.

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all the strategies and tricks of the Devil. Ephesians 6:11 (NLT)

My friend Greg likes to say that when people start moving others towards Christ in a BIG way, the evil one gets nervous and starts pulling out all the stops to discourage you. I have seen it many times and I need to post this verse somewhere to remind me to keep it up and put on my armor. This really puts it into perspective.

Good stuff. Read on…
